From TYCO news release, I would assume this means at open.
Tyco previously announced a two-for-one stock split in the form a 100
percent stock dividend that also has a record date of October 1, 1999 with a
payable date of October 21, 1999. Future regular cash dividends, after the
effect of the two-for-one stock split, will be at the annual rate of 5 cents
per share, or 1.25 cents per share a quarter

Luther, sounds good to me either way, tho I like your date of tomorrow better! I do not think Merrill and some of the others would have come out in such a strong fashion (surely they did a lot of DD) if something negative were to happen tomorrow. They could have just waited to speak up after the news, rather than be made to look like a fool. And Merrill's actions are too traceable to pump and dump...
