Though MSFT may be talking about GMST, but imho, I believe they were really thinking about WINd which is entrenched in the very market that CE is trying to penetrate. WINd's VxWorks is the dominant operating system in the embedded market place and is well on it's way to become the dominant operating system in set top boxes.

Your post should lend even more credence to The Register's article that I had posted a few days ago on this thread in which they said, and I quote:

Although reports of the death of CE would be premature, it is looking in poor health.
