The game has become (or perhaps it always was), "keep the lie going as long as necessary, maybe something magical will fix things before the only option is to come clean". That said, Ballmer's comments were indeed surprising. It ain't part of the script for one of the chosen elite to start blabbing the truth. ------ CMB, yep that's the other DJII bank stock, thanks. ------ S&P futures down 14 or so, DELL 38 3/8, INTC 68 3/4 in pre-market trading scrolling across the CNBC ticker. Not panic stuff for INTC and DELL, considering that IBM's Y2K fate would seem to be theirs as well. Looks like They will make sure that an early dump doesn't go far or last long, IMO. (edit at 6:37: scratch that, IBM indications are 88-90, that would be down 20 or so. LOOK OUT!)
