Has anyone been thinking along the lines of total access costs for a "wired home" environment?
I'm trying to get an idea of the potential market for devices such as Tivo, Replay, wireless, internet enabled devices, etc.
Monthly costs:
Premium cable (assumption being anyone devoted enough to TV to own a Tivo device would have all the bells and whistles package) or satelitte premium package.
ISP provider
on-line storage provider (assumption-- 20 mbytes/household)
cable modem lease or DSL access
premium charged by cable provider or telephone provider for broadband

Tivo/Replay monthly charges
content fees (assumption being 2 pay per view events per household per month)
Need for a second (or third) telephone line and monthly charges for each additional line?
Wireless access?

What else?

Overall train of thought-- What percentage of US households are economically able to afford a wired home and (the highly desireable for the providers) monthly fees associated with it? 60%? 50%? 20%?
What is the total (all inclusive) monthly (at this point projected) cost of broadband access to communication and entertainment for the consumer?

Line of thought stimulated by a debate on whether or not consumer electronic hardware must be free or nearly free or demand for services will dry up or never develop.
I was a listener, not a participant.
