Cendant (CD:NYSE) posted third-quarter earnings of 31 cents a share, a penny better than the eight-analyst estimate and up from 20 cents a year ago. The company also announced a $1 billion-share buyback.

ChoicePoint (CPS:NYSE) posted third-quarter earnings of 68 cents a share, in line with the nine-analyst estimate and up from a year-ago 55 cents. The company also set a 2-for-1 stock split, payable Nov. 24 to shareholders of record on Nov. 10.

Cidco (CDCO:Nasdaq) posted third-quarter earnings of 3 cents a share, a penny better than the lone-analyst estimate. The year-ago loss of $2.51 a share includes charges.
