IMO, it's because the principal's weren't armed. (only 10 years ago myself!)

Those loser's at Columbine would have been cut down by Principal "Crazy" McVicker at my high school. He kept a 12 gauge in a utility locker behind his desk.

You can bet that we trouble makers didn't make any real trouble at the school. Just stink bombs in the library.

Columbine was the result of a depraved group. There is no reason to see the majority of schools as in any way reflected upon by that incident. IMHO, and I know you won't like this, the problem has its roots in the accessability of weapons. There is simply no way to stop or predict the actions of a deranged few, but it may very well be possible to limit the ability of those people to get hold of firearms. Those programs to teach young people about respecting each others feelings are a joke. There will always be an "in" and "out" group. To predict that the out group will retaliate violently is rediculous.
