WE GOT 'EM WE GOT 'EM. OPPS DAMN!!! STOP THE PRESSES!!

New York publishing company said it has halted publication of a new book that claims Texas Gov. George W. Bush was arrested in 1972 on a cocaine charge because the author hid the fact that he served five years in a Texas prison for hiring a hit man.

St. Martin's Press, which had rushed the book by James Howard Hatfield into print three months early because of the salacious charges against the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, said it no longer could trust the author.

The revelation that the author was convicted of hiring a hit man to bomb his former boss' automobile in Dallas "calls into serious question our continued ability to trust the information provided to us by Mr. Hatfield," the publisher said in a statement.

"We have stopped all sales, promotion and other publishing activities and we are not filling orders we have already received. We are in the process of notifying booksellers of our decision."

Thomas Dunne, publisher of Thomas Dunne Books, the St. Martin's imprint that published the Hatfield book, said, "We were totally surprised and distressed by this development."
