GG.

Excellent report.
This is what we need, real hands on experience
with critical thinking minds at work.

Anyone else on this thread sharing their
experience with us?

Bottom line, no one, not even "Bernie" can save a company
offering faulty service for premium price.

This and that country, who what an where buying, it is just
irrelevant if the basics are in trouble.

Geoff, I am not disputing your experience with the G* phone. I am just hoping it was an aberation. I also can't dispute others who had more favorable experiences. I was told that over 45,000 calls were placed on the G* system from Geneva last week with high rates of success. I am also told that the fact that all planes were not filled as of last week, would affect the call quality at times from Geneva.

Aside from all that, let's assume for a minute that the system is at least superior to Iridium's and that initial users will in general have satisfactory experiences. The big question then becomes demand. Is it there in the numbers being thrown out by BS and others? If that answer is no, we are in deep trouble. I would appreciate your thoughts on that. If the answer is yes, then the slow rollout is a timing issue that many of us are having a difficult time in predicting what the actual time line will be. It is a chicken and egg dilema. Manufactures won't produce handsets until they get orders. SP's won't order until they know they can sell them. They won't know if they can sell them until they get handsets in users hands. Hell of a mess! Despite Iridium's less than steller quality, I think they could have sold more handsets had they had stronger distributors and more available handsets. I think the demand was there even for Iridium but the screwed it up. Globalstar at least has stronger distributor partners and apparently more initial handsets that work than Iridium had. So it all comes back to demand. How big is it? Are we kidding ourselves or is it near the numbers being touted? If its there, is this group going to exploit it or screw it up like Iridium? BTW, I don't think 1.50/min is the determining factor.

Look forward to your thoughts.
