Compuware Licenses GraphOn's jBridge Technology to Web-Enable UNIFACE Applications
jBridge Enables Cost-effective Web-deployment of 32-bit Windows Applications With No Need For Microsoft WTS Licensing
CAMPBELL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 20, 1999-- GraphOn Corporation (Nasdaq:GOJO - news; www.graphon.com) today announced it has signed a three year agreement with international software and services company, Compuware (Nasdaq:CPWR - news; www.compuware.com).

Under the non-exclusive agreement, GraphOn will license its jBridge (codename) web-enabling software to be included with Compuware's UNIFACE software, a powerful development and deployment environment for enterprise customer-facing applications. Compuware customers will use GraphOn's jBridge thin client solution to instantly web-enable enterprise-level UNIFACE applications. Compuware will private label and completely integrate jBridge into its UNIFACE deployment architecture as UNIFACE JTi.

Because jBridge operates outside Microsoft Windows Terminal Server, there is no need for application developers using jBridge to license the NT kernel to deploy their 32-bit Windows applications over the Internet to multiple users. Windows, UNIX and Linux applications web-enabled through GraphOn's technology operate in their native mode. They do not require any change of the application's code and run as if they're on the desktop, unlike less versatile HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and XML (Extended Markup Language) page-oriented front ends.

``GraphOn provides a ready-made web and network deployment unmatched by other software,' said Roy Franzen, General Manager of Compuware UNIFACE products. ``We found jBridge to be the only out-of-the-box web-enabling solution that allows UNIFACE applications to be quickly and easily accessed from any desktop. Since jBridge does not require Windows Terminal Server licensing, our customers can deploy their applications over the Web at a lower cost and faster than any other solution we have examined. With UNIFACE JTi, Compuware Corporation will further enhance its position as a leader in enterprise application development technology.'

``Any enterprise that wants to leverage the Internet as the world wide network needs to have a cost-efficient solution for deploying 32-bit Windows applications,' said GraphOn CEO and President, Walt Keller. ``Where UNIFACE provides the construction and assembly software components to build business-critical applications, jBridge software delivers them to any client running any platform over any connection, quickly and easily.'

In December 1998, GraphOn acquired the jBridge technology and development team and facilities from Corel Corporation in an exchange of technology for stock, giving Corel approximately a 20 percent stake in GraphOn. Earlier this year, GraphOn unveiled the GraphOn Playpen, playpen.graphon.com, a site featuring Corel WordPerfect for Linux. By visiting the Playpen, anyone with a Java-enabled browser can access and use WordPerfect and other Linux applications instantly inside the browser. Each application appears to run on the user's desktop with full performance, features and with the intended user interface when, in reality, it is running on the playpen.graphon.com server on Red Hat Linux.

About GraphOn

GraphOn software helps enterprises lower their total cost of ownership (TCO) by providing remote use of full-featured Linux, UNIX and Windows applications over network, dial-up and Internet connections using the simplest PCs and Java-enabled browsers and devices. GraphOn software also provides vital Internet and network connectivity for server-based applications rented by ASPs (Application Service Providers). The rent-an-app model opens new markets for customers to rent, rather than purchase applications.

Server-based UNIX and Linux applications can be accessed from Windows PCs via GraphOn's GO-Global(TM), from Java devices and browsers over the Internet via GO-Joe(TM) and from multi-user NT (such as Microsoft Terminal Server and Citrix WinFrame) via GO-Between(TM). GraphOn's jBridge technology enables deployment of 32-bit Windows applications over the Internet and is scheduled for release in late 1999. Fully functional demos of GraphOn's thin, server-based software connectivity products are available from the company's web site at graphon.com and for a real-time demonstration of GraphOn technology go to playpen.graphon.com. GraphOn is headquartered in Campbell, California and has offices in Seattle, Washington and Concord, New Hampshire.

GraphOn Announces New Moniker for Thin Server-based Software: "Bridges" to Web-Enable Windows, UNIX and Linux Applications
Bridges to include jBridge technology with current software products to offer complete Web-enabling solution for ASPs, ISVs and the enterprise
CAMPBELL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 20, 1999-- GraphOn Corporation (Nasdaq:GOJO - news; www.graphon.com) today announced it is repositioning and renaming its family of server-based, Web-enabling software to provide a more complete solution for application service providers (ASPs), independent software vendors (ISVs) and developers and the enterprise.

In December, GraphOn's current software products will be unified under the name ``Bridges'(tm), with components named for the host's operating system, rather than that of the client system. The OEM version of the WinBridge(tm) component (formerly codenamed jBridge) will be available for preview Nov. 15 at COMDEX/Fall in Las Vegas.

``We've changed our successful 'GO' series to express exactly what GraphOn does. We provide the 'Bridges' that connect any Windows, UNIX or Linux application to any desktop anywhere in the world over any connection,' said Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, of GraphOn, Robin Ford. ``Applications Web-enabled with Bridges are easily deployed and run at the desktop as if they are running locally, without costly software rewrites (no modifications of the application's code are required), and without a featureless page-oriented HTML or XML front end. IT managers, ISVs and ASPs can easily use the Bridges components that fit their computing needs and instantly Web-enable their applications, while lowering total cost of ownership and allowing for scalability.'

GraphOn Bridges currently includes thin, native Java, Windows and multi-user NT (Terminal Server Edition) clients and the following server components:

UNIXBridge(tm) and LinuxBridge(tm) (formerly GlobalHost(tm)) instantly Internet-enable any UNIX or Linux application from any Windows or Java-enabled PC or desktop device over dial-up and Internet connections with no additional hardware and without changing a single line of the application's code.
WinBridge (formerly codenamed jBridge) instantly Internet-enables any 32-bit Windows application from any Windows or Java-enabled PC or desktop device over dial-up or Internet connections with no additional hardware and without changing a single line of the application's code.
GraphOn will announce pricing, additional clients and server components, and other product details concerning Bridges later this year.
