want to know why IBM hardware is not selling?

All you need to do is to go visit a few of the data centers that are mushrooming left and right. I did recently - and thought i had entered Sun / Cisco heaven.

> 95% of unix servers were from Sun ( saw 1 IBM machine, a couple of HP N Class servers).

~ 75% of network equipment was from Cisco ( with a smattering of Extreme/Bay switches, F5 load balancers).

IBM is not a player in the exploding hardware market. Y2K is a convenient excuse for IBM. If this had happened last year, they would have blamed El Nin~o.
