Sorry, I can not resist the cheap humor answer - participate in these discussions long enough and someone will tell you where to go !

Personally, I never found academia to be very useful. I have an MBA in Finance and although it looked good on a resume and helped me get great jobs in the 80s its usefulness is limited. I do know, however, how to read income statement, balance sheets, cash flow, etc. which in the long run has helped me trust my own judgement and reduced my need to go to academia or anyone else for advice.
