NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--ESS Technology Inc. (ESST), which reversed year-ago third-quarter losses, saw growth in both the video and audio side of the
business, according to the Chairman Fred Chan. Chan told CNBC Thursday that future growth will come from growth of the Internet applications' platform and
online entertainment. The maker of mixed-signal semiconductors and software for audio and digital video product wasn't affected by Compaq Computer Corp.'s
(CPQ) woes, Chan said. ESS late Wednesday reported third-quarter earnings of 18 cents a share, compared with an 18-cent loss a year earlier.
