RR, glad you really like Seattleites..and yep, you might be a little right about Seattleites 'full of themselves'...

Twenty years ago we had VERY few national headquarters here....in fact, we could count them on less than 10 fingers...so, because it is a lovely place to live, even if it rains LOTS...we started to 'grow' our own national companies, with the headquarters here! I think we would all be very surprised if we looked at 1979 Seattle and Eastside telephone books, versus the 1999 telephone books!

We are no longer dependent on just one or two companies anymore like we were when the billboards you mentioned said "will the last one in Seattle please turn off the lights.." It is a nice place to be, and yes, you will find people in elevators that smile, and say have a nice day when they get off, and the funny thing is, they mean it.... Today, when so many things are mean and cross, it is refreshing to encounter a pleasant thing or two while going about your daily business.

And GNET is definitely a pleasant thing....Creating something new, where nothing existed before, and useful to humanity, is to me, simply amazing!
