Very good point Tony. If you go to IBM's Y2K web site you can see precisely which products are Y2K ready and for mainframes it goes back to the mid-80s and the 3090. The next generation bi-polar ES/9000 family (early 90s) and the new current line CMOS 9672 are all Y2K ready assuming you are at the correct engineering change level. On the other hand millions upon millions of PC packages were sold by well known vendors that were not Y2K ready far into the 90s. Every week I have to run Y2K readiness software to insure my PCs continue to be compliant. On a numbers basis,I am expecting that most of the Y2K litigation will involve the PC space. Certainly the litigation so far has been with PCs based upon suing for remediation. When it comes time to sue for damages my guess is that the PC space will lead there too. Just my opinion.
