Hi Ike:

Glad to see your still up or is this Zain or Zack staying up late <gg>.

We'll IBM didn't take the whole sector and market down like it did in "87". I'd guess it will take a couple of quarters to repair yesterdays news. If there is a Y2K issue then CSCO and LU may also be impacted. I remember NETA earlier this year blaming Y2K and CHKP and SYMC kept having great #'s. I think there is a similarity with 87 with IBM's stock when they hit their #'s but warned for the 4th qtr. $90 is the 1st support and while we can have a dead cat bounce I'd say it goes lower to next support.

On a separate note you may want to look @ INPH a fiberchannel company that just posted pretty good earnings. They finally turned around their operations.

I also still like LTXX (LSI just reported great earnings which and LTXX's fusion product is the leading system on a
chip tester). They also had a design win with TXN and Infeion (spelling??).

MSFT is still a quandry with the goverment case and the pushout of win2000 (although this will be such a big win for them it may help the stock break $95 and break out).

THQI is a software gamer worth looking at. They should have good earnings and they've new products hitting the market.

VERT well I remember you pointed this out when it was $44 <gg>. Its one of Judy's from way back. It always held her support level of 65 (32ish after the split).

PFE looks very nice at the momment.

CHKP. The VPN and Firewall leader. I bailed a while back never expecting it to hit $100. They always have a good 4th quarter but the stock is over priced (hey haven't they said that about MSFT for years <gg>). I would wait for a pull back after earnings.

Have to go. Hope your still running. My foot has finally healed enough (not completely) where I'm back running and hopefully will start harder training before the snow flies.

I may be in Zurich b/4 the end of the year but not Paris.

Hope all is well with you and the family.

Tim

Ike: You really nailed the supports today, SOX 483, DOT 688
and NDX a little below 2388. I was wondering if you could share with a beginner to doing TA, how these supports are determined? I looked at 50 day moving averages and that wasn't it!

Thanks Dennis

I suggest that your survey sample is woefully inadequate.
Although I am surprised that you did not see many mobile
users in Manhattan (and I don't live in Manhattan) I see
mobiles virtually everywhere I go - Denver, Phoenix, Dallas
and LA. Nobody has the old analog phones - most are the
latest Nokias.

Unfortunately most of the users are driving !!!!

Before you even say it, we all know that the real reason
that the US isn't leading is that Motorola is as slow as
molasses in changing direction, partially because they used
to virtually own the mobile market, but they gave it away.
They probably will never again truly lead, but they will
be competitive ---- some day. All is not lost. There will
be others.
