Refusing vaccinations - I have heard it can be done if you claim it's against your religious beliefs (probably have to sign a statement to that effect). The statement was made that co-incidence doesn't prove causality. But lack of proof doesn't mean it isn't true - just that it hasn't been shown to be true using scientific methods - yet. The medical establishment absolutely hates anecdotal evidence, and would rather you avoid "folk" medicine even if it means you die. Orthodox medicine is about 20 years behind the alternative health movement. Look at the AMA's changing positions on vitamin/mineral supplements as a great example. They used to say they were useless, now they are admitting that many are good to take, at least for certain problems. Anybody remember when doctors took out tonsils routinely in children? They still treat child-birth as a disease, treatable with drugs (induced labor) and surgery (Caesarian section). Dentists allow one of the most toxic substances known to man - mercury - be placed inside of everyone's mouths. Yet it is considered so toxic that it must be kept under water (to avoid gassing into the air), and scrapings (after a filling is done) cannot be tossed into the garbage, but must be disposed of per strict regulations. Orthodox medicine has one great value, and that is in emergency care. If I was shot or stabbed or etc., I want a doctor to cut me open, remove the foreign matter, stitch up the damaged areas, whatever it takes, to stabilize me. Then I'm going home, so I can recuperate with the aid of various alternative supplements. Because the worst place in the world to recuperate is in a hospital. I've heard that up to 30% of patients leave a hospital with new diseases that they picked up there. My observation is that doctors don't have a clue how to treat chronic diseases - all they can do is manage symptoms, often with drugs that cause dangerous side effects. As far as day-to-day health care and addressing any chronic diseases, I'll take my chances ANY day with an alternative approach over an orthodox one.
