Harry, >>>Remember 1Q? IBM booked bigger profits in 1Q and my guess is that they KNEW at the time that they were borrowing mainframe sales from later in the year. <<<

That may have just been a 'dead cat bounce' for mainframe sales. IBM is sitting between the rock and hard place. If they push mainframe sales, they lose out on high end Unix server sales. If they push Unix servers, that will eat into mainframe sales. IA64 servers further complicate the matter for IBM. Forgetabout those AS400's.

This is not a good time for IBM to have a CEO without a vision for the future. Listening to your customer to find out what they want may not be the best strategy going forward. In the meantime, Bill Gates, Scott McNeally, and Michael Dell are telling their customers to buy NT software, Java loaded Workstations, and departmental PCs. They are not waiting for their customers to formulate a vision for their own company's future.

Mary

Harry,

Thanks for the compliment.

INTC (and the NASDAQ) had an inter-day reversal today. This looks very positive for Intel, the chart:

Note the volume at the close.

Hope I'm right.
