Managing sales people is like herding cats. SFA only implementations are often a mess.

Things change in an enterprise wide suite deployment, the benefits are greater accross the board, it may force a more disciplined implementation process.

If customer problems were a catalyst, SAP would have died long ago. There are problems out there, but just as often there are very happy customers too.

Gotta run, worth discussing further though.

It's nice to to hear from someone who has actually used these products. There are two ways to look at the value of CRM/SFA - the value to the user and the value to the company as a whole. SFA is probably the better example. Salespersons main power over the company may be their uniqueness, and their personal knowledge about the customer. The company would prefer that it's salespersons be more fungible, and that their customer knowledge be shared fully with the company. There is an inherent conflict here, exacerbated by the compensation methodology commonly in use. If the company management wants this badly enough, salespersons who feed garbage into the system will eventually be discharged. From your observations it would seem that the demand for SEBL software is being "pushed" from management. To get maximum demand, SEBL will have to try to develop something appealing enough to salespersons that there is also "pull" demand from the sales force.. Question-- considering the inherent conflicts involved, is this possible? Do salespersons have any broken processes that urgently need fixing? Do companies have information that would help sales that at present is not readily available to salespersons?
For the full potential mass market to appear for Seibel, I think they need to offer something that helps both management and the people using the product.Complience is a lot easier this way.
