Stan,

On bikini requirements:

May I say that I speak for both myself and Jill that you may wear any kind of bikini you see fit. But being a Bostonnite, you may prefer fake fur, as it's frickin' cold up here.

"I am beginning to get swayed by Voltaire and others who refer to market makers, FUD, manipulation, don't listen to the noise, etc. This sort of semi-conspiratorial, who killed Kennedy thinking is anathema to scientists, and to those of us who practice medicine based on the evidence, etc. Nevertheless, it is amazing to watch everything sway so violently in either direction, and during these recent days, I must have matured some or am numb to this, as my G&K portfolio has given me great confidence in both the safety of my holdings and their eventual rewards."

True wisdom, Apollo. As a social scientist myself (a lesser breed, but with some similar intellectual DNA), I too find the conspiratorial worldview a bit much to take. But the evidence of dramatic market inefficiency in the short-term is clear to anyone with eyes to see, especially if one knows the facts and is following things closely. My answer is to accept the evidence (and try to profit from it!), but chalk up the phenomenon not to manipulation by hidden hands, market makers, etc. (a la SI's Voltaire), but rather to short-term thinking, mass hysteria, ignorance and stupidity, and so forth (an analysis that would be congenial to the historical Voltaire). Either way, as you say, the best antidote is confident longterm behavior based on sound knowledge of the specific companies involved--precisely what we can get here at G&K. So, as usual, I offer my thanks to all.
