their charts do look rather similar....but there's a big difference between '87 and now. back then virtually everybody was surprised by the crash, whereas now there are at least two or three people who think a crash is a possibility and innumerable interest groups who will do whatever it takes to keep it from happening.
the question is why should it happen, and once that's answered, can it actually be avoided?
