Cirrus,

Actually, AMD is expected to come out with the Athlon Professional, which is supposedly going to be aimed at
corporate PCs, NEXT year. So if Y2K gloom lasts well into next year, AMD may be affected. The current Athlon is
pretty much Y2K safe.

If AMD (or Intel) can't come out with a Y2K compliant CPU now, or last year, or next year, that would be pretty pathetic. And, just because they call it the Athlon Professional doesn't make it any harder. I guess you're saying that corporate in-house computing center staff would be hesitant to add new CPUs next year if they perceived the Y2K bugaboo as persisting. That would make them equally pathetic (but who knows what goes through peoples' minds).

Tony

Cirruslvr: Rumor has it that INTC will announce 6 new high end chips next couple of weeks and that they will deploy them this year. JFD
