Remember, 90 is now 45...
And the reason for a split is obvious... to get more "investors" interested in the stock. Believe it or not, I know many people (with large portfolios) who think they're getting a "deal" on a lower priced stock. They will buy a $50 stock instead of a $100 stock based on the belief that it will stand a better chance of rising in price. I have never done the research, but they may actually be right, in a misguided way. All I do know however, is that with a stock as strong as Tyco, all investors, large and small, will be buying for some time to come. I do think that (in the longer term) we can thank Tice for what he did... attract even more publicity and more investors to Tyco. The surge back to the $100's ($50's) will be quick and decisive. When that will happen depends on the market conditions, but it could be as soon as early next week.
