Excalibur Technologies Announces Comprehensive OEM Agreement with Parametric Technology Corporation
Excalibur RetrievalWare(R) To Be Integrated in PTC's Windchill
VIENNA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 22, 1999-- Excalibur Technologies (NASDAQ:EXCA - news), a leading provider of knowledge and media asset management solutions, today announced a technology licensing, integration and distribution agreement with Parametric Technology Corporation (NASDAQ:PMTC - news), a leading provider of integrated product development and lifecycle management solutions.
The agreement gives PTC rights to integrate Excalibur RetrievalWare®, an intelligent, web-based, search application into PTC's product and process lifecycle management software, Windchill. PTC will sell the combined solution to customers worldwide.
Focused on all phases of a product's lifecycle -- from concept and definition to production, service, maintenance and retirement - Windchill advances product and process lifecycle management through its unique web-based approach, tightly integrating suppliers and customers into the development process, increasing product innovation and speeding time-to-market for complex, customer-driven products.
Combined with Excalibur RetrievalWare, Windchill will provide a single point of access for advanced search and retrieval across enterprise networks, intranets, and the World Wide Web.
By leveraging a semantic network and advanced natural language processing technologies, it will enable users to easily search a wide range of distributed information resources, including text files, HTML, PDM documents, relational database tables, over 200 proprietary document formats (such as word processors and publishing systems), and groupware repositories.
PTC selected Excalibur for its ability to meet Windchill customer requirements for multi-lingual search capability within global product development environments and for its ability to scale across extended enterprises.
