I stand corrected. INTS did hit $40 in 1996, I thought they had split again since then. PSOS and VxWorks are such different products that the only sensible thing to do is throw one of them away, and migrate customers to the other one. That would be a big win, but might be hard to execute.

Edit: I still think they paid too much: INTS has been growing much more slowly than WIND, and IMO has some serious problems.

I have had hands-on experience with both PSOS, and VxWorks, and VxWorks is vastly superior in architecture, design, and implementation (IMO). Moving customers to it from PSOS should not prove to be impossible, and would probably benefit them.

The danger is that if the migration is difficult, customers might switch to another technology (such as WindowsCE). But then again, that would serve them right.
