point well taken, consolidation of this industry was one of my reasons for picking amtd, another was a beaten down sector with a promising future where i could place some money for a year to beat the 39.6 tax bracket that killed me this year.155k in taxes...yuk been a platinium member of schwab since nov11 1998. treatment is very good except threatening to quit to recieve a measely 100 ipo shares had me pissed. the most ipo shares i have recieved in one company is 100 shares. turned down 3 times threatened to move money and quit 3 times and recieved 100 measely shares 3 times. this may hold true for all brokers...i don;t know. anyway 12 k in commissions has me steamed at schwab and myself for staying with them.leaving in jan for simplified tax reasons and betting many more will follow me in the future.
