Here is a question.

Will Java be used on cellular/PDA devices in the next couple of years? If yes, what applications will drive the usage of it in the cellular/PDA world?

Thanks for requesting input for the conference. One thing I would like comments on from the whole group is the cost of various alternatives for sending and receiving large quantities of data in low density areas.

Specificially, how does wireless data access compare with (1) fiber optic lines, (2) cable TV, or (3) higher speed phone lines in terms of cost and data transmission rates? Is a fiber optic system a reasonable alternative in areas where population density is low, or where there are no major data users (such as large universities, research institutes, or large corporations)?
