The answer is yes, but someone else with a better handle on this might have a more finite answer. As I recall, hazily at best, AT&T holders received some number of shares in each of the seven BB's, and retained their shares in AT&T. I hope someone will answer this more fully for you. I wasn't paying close attention at that time.

In any case, I don't see how a MSFT holder today would be hurt by a breakup decision. The IBM case was different...that was an unbundling of hardware and software sales policy, and it allowed other companies to make inroads IBM had long thwarted.

I saw both as good decisions for customers.
