The Wall Street Journal -- October 22, 1999
Banta and Compaq Sign Contract

MENASHA, Wis. -- Banta Corp. said it signed a five-year contract to configure, test and distribute Compaq Computer Corp. data-storage components.

The provider of printing, imaging and other services said it expects the agreement with the Houston computer maker to generate between $600 million and $800 million in revenue during the life of the contract.

Victor,

He is basically reiterating what I have been harping about forever, that is the IBM recovery. Same thing with IBM back in 1993. No growth for the first couple of years, but a profit rebound due to layoffs and massive cost cutting. Worked wonders for the stock and gave Gerstner time to plan for the longer term strategically.

Regards,
John
