Results are all that matters. If the stock price goes up then mgmt is doing a good job right??

Exactly. The stock price went up thanks to the Onex offer.

Moreover I cannot see how management can be justified in taking a decision that ultimately is for the shareholders to make.

The Onex offer should have been accepted or rejected on the basis of shareholders feeling that it was/wasn't fair.

Instead it will have to be rejected by shareholders because management signed a kitchen and a give the house away deal with CARA, UAL and LF.

AC and CA have a long standing history of childish competition (my airline is bigger than yours) leading to lower stock prices. AC management's response to the Onex offer is deja vu all over again.
