RE>>It was not that He could not, it was that He did not....why?<< First Dan - you do greatly err in that you are talking about the state of man yet using God in the flesh as an example. But what Jesus was teaching was NOT that he COULD call the Angels but being the Son of God it was He who indeed commands the angels...and even the evil angels must obey Jesus ... Verse 54 explains what Jesus really meant when he said this. Can God break a Promise and still be GOD???? Did not God Promise to send Jesus to die for the Sheep ??? Could Jesus have changed HIS MIND ??? Verse 54 says no! Is anything IMPOSSIBLE for GOD ==== YES YES YES !!! Hebrews 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, .... Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. Jesus was merely explaining to them that if He WILLED for the event to not be then he could call a legion of Angels... He wanted the disciples to surrender to the Predestined WILL of GOD concerning HIS OWN SON Isaiah 53:10 ¶ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Acts 15:18 Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world. He is doing a work in you that was planned before the world began do you think you can change that :-} What did Jesus mean when he Prayed this : Luke 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. 43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him Does the Son have a different will than the Father.... NOT ! Matthew 16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. Your use of this verse to prove that things could go either way is really very poor. You try to use God in the Flesh ( JESUS )who ALWAYS did his Fathers will perfectly to prove that something other than God's will could have occured. Scripture could not be broken -Back to the drawing board with this one dAn :-} BrianValentine
