Benkea, the repeal of Glass - Steagall is definitely a seminal event, even though it's effects will be largely cosmetic as the law has been circumvented for years now. however, it's yet another in a collection of what i'd call the signs of the times, be it the Atlantic monthly cover screaming "Dow 36,000" or the proliferation of brokerage ads... as Bobby Beara has frequently pointed out, we may well be witnessing the end of a secular trend, which even an old-timer like Richard Arms doesn't believe is ending. hb
