Free-to-Air Internet: European Access In Chaos

European online ventures currently face two evils: low Internet penetration and low levels of usage. Going forward, both of these problems must be addressed. The phenomenal success of free ISPs in certain European markets has ignited the imagination of telcos, ISPs, commerce ventures, and content owners-and there has been a veritable scramble to replicate the success of Freeserve in the UK. But is it a temporary phenomenon? What is the end game for access in Europe? How should the players navigate a safe course to that harbour?

I HIT THE JACKPOT--Not only do I like X-Stream I also like the e-bay style auction. (e-bay the one that jumped from US$16.00 to US$650.00/sh in 8 months)? So this week I purchased several hundred shares of Euro eBay, the nickname for QXL.com (QXLC:Nasdaq) also US$16.00/sh.. Then I hear of this little company in the USA also starting a e-bay style auction (AuctionFun) in the high $0.20 range. A company, Taurus, put US$5 million into this company MULTI MEDIA (MMIC:Nasdaq bb) after studying the company. So I thought, based on that plus a few other things, that I would throw in $5,000. The stock took off Friday and closed at $0.61/share, and looking hot for next because their website doesn't open until Mon, Nov. 1, 1999. On the Raging Bull chat line yesterday, there were about 2 or 3 posts per minute coming on MMIC. Talk about action.!!
