I thought so too. I have been messing with IPOs via Witless Capital, and CMGI & SFE spin-offs all year, and it is looking a bit euphoric. When they start breaking the syndicate bids like they did in July (before I sold all of them), look out below.

Robert:

BTW, there is a long line of folks who are starting to sound like Heinz and BB, so you have to take a number and get in line <vbg>.

The endless list of IPO's (over half of which are internet related) are one of the very things that are, IMO, keeping us from having the "blow off" bottom everyone is looking for (not to mention the fact that when everyone is looking for it, we will never see it). See previous post Message 11681761

As far as today's IPO goes, I believe it's success is really for a variety of reasons: 1) it's an IPO. 2) it hits both the hot areas in one offering-- internet and broad-band. 3) it has a unique business model and if I heard properly is actually making money?? can it be?? and last but not least, 4) it is an acquisition target almost immediately because it is internet and broad-band. I may be totally wrong about this company, as I don't play IPO's and therefore only hear bits and pieces of the endless chatter on CNBC when I forget to turn the volume back down after turning it up for the exchange floor reports <g>. But if it is the one I think it is, that would be a reasonable explanation for its success. As I think about it, maybe there is another reason 5) the market has been down bad for some time and when we have a clearly "good" day in the market the money comes rolling in.

Matt

Robert,

>>>> I am concerned that the scmr debut marks some kind of blow off for the inet ipo market. I mean I just can't imagine this kind of excess continuing much longer. And since inet ipos reflect the exuberance of the inet sector, and since the inets have led many of the bull runs of the recent and not so recent past, I can't help but view today's scmr price action as quite worrisome.
I'm starting to sound like Heinz. HELP! <g><<<<

ROFL!!!!
