Ron, your posts have a foundation of an axiom that few will accept,
and you will not identify as existings since you know that if you do so
then all your posts will fall like a house of cards built on ignorance.

You did it to yourself.

Unwilling to obtain what you decided was necessary to allow yourself exposure
for obtaining that which you have, you have accomplished its subversion.

Ron,

with respect to the following:

Were the CBs to completely dump their gold holdings upon the market, you'd see an INCREDIBLE SPIKE in the value of the dollar.

would selling of gold by foreign banks/gov'ts also increase the dollar, or their own currency?

If the CBers were to dump all their gold I would think you would see a fall in gold prices and then an incredible spike in gold
I guess you have taken the posture that history doesn't repeat itself..
I guess I don't think human nature ever changes so I assume history will repeat itself..
I am also assuming that the consumer spending had been pent up for so very long that it should continue for a while longer..which has favored the dollar..
I am also assuming that the US has shifted its policy now and would prefer a weaker dollar although I don't have the foggiest idea yet
what their thoughts are on a strengthening European alliance and what
they plan to do to compete for customers from growing nations of India and China for example..with the Euro obviously it will be easier for
other nations to do business now
I am also assuming that countries are going to realize that relying on a weak currency won't get them out of their problems..
I am assuming also that a two class society has been developing in the United States and when the baby boomers start retiring, we are going to be in for very strange times..I bet we will see a lot of legislation against lawyers' fees :-)
Goldsnow I think posted comments from head of Placer re true price of gold factoring in all the expenses.
I think currently the low costs for producing gold are gold companies
trying to get investors into their companies..pr work
If history doesn't repeat itself and human nature changes, then I will have to agree with you
