Since the 'commies' do not believe in Democracy the other two numbskulls -Congress & BJP- should have made sure they got enough protection in these 'hyper sensitive' constituencies. Anyway I don't think they would have won the election in Kannur and Kasargod even with the 'proetction' as I think the commies are quite popular in those parts anyway,no?

The reason the commies used these tactics is that they are losing support and they know it. Their victory margin in Kannur was only in the 6000 range. The rigging probably made the difference there.

Anyway, using force to gain power is the basic philosophy of the commies. For example, in the colleges in Kerala, the SFI is much stronger than the KSU, disproportionate to the support their parent parties have in the general population. Why? Because those who don't join the SFI are threatened and sometimes beaten up. This is known as "organizational strength".
