Actually,
I like the mid-caps and up. Some guys on the SD thread are into the small caps but i favor the bigger boys. Follow that institutional $. BR, UPR, EOG, FST, APA, XTO, OXY(4.5% yield!), BRR, PXD. Check out yahoo research on OEI. 10 strong buys and rising. haven't seen that since Nov. 97 and the driller ratings...er, maybe that's a bad thing! OEI is 9ish and used to trade at 67 a couple years back. they have really cleaned up their act since then and merged with another strong E&P this year, Seagull. IMO, stronger points to look for are:
1.Emphasis on NG production.
2.Lowered operating costs.
3.Lowered debt.
4.Return to prifitability.

PXD and OEI have all 4 cylinders working. Actually, Slider does excellent research on E&P and he is pretty generous with sharing his info. Notwithstanding his black sheep status of late on the SD thread. -g-

Steve & thread,
Anybody interested in E&P but not too sure which one might want to check out PEO. Closed end mutual trading at 17% discount with 13 day short ratio. But, please, do your own DD. peteres.com

Back in the semis - anybody know anything about TLCM? Chart's not looking too hot right now but a couple of anal-ysts are incredibly high on it. Predicting phenomenal growth. Thursday's Q report not too spectacular, nor the 14% sell off Friday. Y'all think this one might be a good one to watch for a recovery?
