While the forecast you make seems to be likely based upon the trends in the overall market and the movements of the Q to date, how about some possible other factors which may affect the Q as an individual stock before the end of this calendar year.

Hanging over all is the specification on the "standards" for 3rd gen CDMA.

The potential sale of the "handset division". To whom, and in return for what future potential for the Q (sales price less important than "other factors" such as reinforcement of CDMA, etc.)

Just plain ole Conference Call announcements in non voice wireless fields, such as laptop computers, handheld devices other than phones, WLL expansion around the world with the Q's active participation, Globalstar showing signs of life after launch, positive developments re China in context of World Trade negotiations or a CDMA breakthrough there for any reason, etc. etc.

Couldn't one or more of these add to Q's attractiveness and therefore have a positive effect on the price in a timeframe between Nov 2 and Dec 31 - but at specific dates difficult to predict now?

Chaz

PS All the above in full recognition of "sell on the news", the Greenspan effect, and the Y2K fears which work to dampen upward movement in the price of the Q in Nov (and perhaps early Dec)

why do you say there will be a post earnings sell off, when you know that everyone will be extrapolating the hell out of the numbers and everybody will conclude that earnings for next yr will come in between 5 and 6 bucks. and since we are in the new fiscal quarter, the stock will be valued on earnings going forward and at 60-70pe, its clear that the q is way undervalued.
no argument with the fomc statement.
y2k is turning out to be everyones scapegoat for their true problems. i just had to buy all new pc's for my office due to new software that is y2k compliant. i didn't have a choice to wait till after jan.1. should be the same for alot of other buisnesses. besides no one is going to put off a cell phone purchase due to y2k.
