<Moto repipelining the PowerPC design> How much will they gain from this? You know, it is hard to answer without knowing any details. If focused strictly on MHz (which sells !), I would guess that up to 2x speedup is possible, especially if newer design techniques are used (CD domino). However, longer pipeline must be somewhat slower when handling mispredicted branches, therefore their average IPC will drop a little bit. But in general, the MHz is the king of the market these days...
