You say, "But we have more money than the bible belt, therefore liberal, Godless California matters much more than the sheer numbers dictate on almost every social issue."

That is about the most arrogant, idiotic public statement since, "Let them eat cake."

Thanks for the emotional backlash Michael. California kicked out every republican in the last election - anybody even vaugely associated with the far right was humilated, this is one state where boring Al Gore is ahead in the polls. And yet, Bush is omnipresent here - why? He doesn't need California's numbers to win, right? Is GW Bush pro-life or not? Why waffle on the matter if he is, if that is what the majority of people want? Why not just get up and state your far right views and see how the chips fall?

Its because he needs money from the high tech industry and those people do not support creationism in schools, the pro-life position, the ten commandments or anything really that the far right agressively pushes on everybody else. In fact, high tech management now is in favor of extreme tolerance since we have to import a foreign workforce and shoving Christianity down Vonod Khosla's throat is a lot less important to them than getting a product out the door.

The largest single group in California is Hispanic
That is southern and central california, and those numbers are boosted by the agricultural community - again - sheer numbers but no money. Northern California is majority Asian if you include indian with Asian, or if you choose to split everyone up its about an even mixture of races... not a majority Christian certainly.

That's coming it far too strong, Michael. Please tone it down. Using expressions such as "your set" and "arrogant, idiotic" is unbecoming and does not further your argument.

Lizzie does have a point when she notes the numbers of people coming into the high tech industry in California from places such as India complicates the religious aspect of the political scene.
