She isn't necessarily likable just influential. I would have to consider her a major influence on the century though I would at the same time say that the environmental movement was inevitable in some respects.
'Silent Spring' is one of the seminal works of literature, I think it would make the top 100 of the most influential books of all time, including the 'good' and 'bad' ones (such as 'The Prince').
