Indeed, US patents expire 20 years from the day of filing. As the drug development process goes, companies file for a product patent first and start phase 1 clinical trials next, the final drug being relased after the success of the phase 3 clinical trial. The first 3 phases together take upto 10 years, thus giving patent-protected profit life of approximately 10 years to a drug.

When I see something erroneous posted in a public forum, I believe that the proper response is to post a correction supported by data/research. Apparently, you believe that the proper response is to walk away. Well, let's agree to disagree?
