<<...if Q earns $5.00 in '01, we would be @ 430 right now.....hum...!?>>

Just wait until the International Telecommunication Union begins to distribute higher frequencies in the next few years. These frequencies will allow wireless users to transmit data at lightning speeds. 3G (Third Generation digital networks) will blow the analysts away. The best part is that 3G is not just being driven by the wireless carriers. The wireless and computer industries are collaborating like never before. Microsoft, Lucent, and others including even AOL and Yahoo want 3G to succeed. And the sooner, the better.

Motorola estimates that by 2005 the number of wireless devices with Internet access will exceed the number of wired ones. Dataquest, a consultancy, predicts that the number of wireless data users in the United States will increase from 3m today to 36m in 2003. The estimates for Asia and Europe are even higher.

Now what will that do to Q's earnings?

Why would you sell JDSU? The optical story is just beginning to happen. I see fiber to the curb or at least to the neighborhood as the only real alternative to broadband cellular and the only way T is going to be able to make their cable strategy viable. Not only will fiber come close to you own home, it is and will be increasingly used to send the unfathomable amounts of information that the new digital century will bring. I have made JDSU my second largest holding after QCOM because of the above.
