John, just received the IDC data for Q3. The numbers for DELL look excellent.

DELL worldwide unit sales in Q3 3.239 million units representing 15% sequential growth and 59% yoy growth.

DELL USA unit sales in Q3 2.119 million units representing 17% sequential growth and 58% yoy growth.

The entire market grew 7% sequentially and 25% yoy on worlwide unit sales. These are big numbers and reflect a very healthy and growing industry.

I input the IDC numbers in my business model and these are the possibilities I come up with based on the following parameters;

1] ASP $2173 [same as Q2]: GP 20% [vs 22% in Q2]:
This generates Revenue of $7.038 billion [15% sequential/46% yoy growth] and EPS of 19.05 cents.

2] ASP $2150 [1% sequential erosion]: GP 20%
This generates Revenue of $6.964 billion [13% sequential growth/45% yoy growth] and EPS of 18.67 cents

3] ASP $2173 and GP of 21.0%
This generates Revenue of $7.038 billion and EPS of 20.87 cents

4] ASP $2150 and GP of 21.0%
This generates revenue of $6.964 billion and EPS of 20.47 cents.

It appears that DELL's worst case EPS scenario is 19 cents and the best case is 21 cents. My revised personal number is now 20 cents, up from my pre-IDC data estimate of 19 cents.Incidentally, even 19 cents is 1 to 2 cents higher than that re-estimated by the analysts after last week's conference call.

Regards, Gabriel
