Do you, or anyone, know where this orginated? I've seen it on the web numerous times over the last two years, with the claim that it was an "actual question" on such and such a university exam (I've seen at least a half-dozen different schools listed). It is usually reported as an engineering final, however, rather than a chem mid-term. Just wondering who "rephrases" the lead in these sorts of things and passes them on. The idea that it may have been "real" adds an extra punch when you read it for the first time, doesn't it? Just rambling....
