Ray, I suppose that this is as much a mental hang up as anything else, but I'd prefer to see optical switching taking place organically, on a substrate, or some other medium. Mechanical alternatives provide room for mechanical mishaps, slow response times for executing (compared to potential crystal based alternatives), and powering and spatial challenges at the higher levels of integration. But they work now, which is why they will continue to be used and further honed. Frank
