I think it was a better place. Of course tastes differ- newts prefer living under slimey rocks and I wouldn't like that very much. I don't know what the answer is- feelies has gotten kinda boring and sadistic before- as people pass through the thread changes. I would prefer the thread to attract more people like E (who was nice all the way through this- and merely held fast to her position in a political argument), and JBE - who has never slammed anyone, and Steve, and Karma and some of the other folks who always had intelligent interesting things to say. But what you or I prefer doesn't matter all that much- what matters is whether the kind of people we like feel comfortable here, and obviously, they don't.
