Michael, I agree that all of life is change. I honestly don't know if there are different standards of behavior for different people. If there are, they are inadvertent, I think. I do think that the tone has changed dramatically though. CB's explosion in the wee hours was so unlike her as I have come to know her; it may reflect this different tone of the entire thread, which has become increasingly combative. For example, I'd like to see a bit more courtesy extended to Lizzie. You don't have to agree with her, but she's not a fool and she is a cherished friend of mine. BTW, I also have missed X's sharpness on this thread and hope she sticks around. And you'd better watch those smileys. They could start to grow on you.

I didn't condemn anyone- and I certainly won't condemn CB. I don't recall condemning anyone else- except to say I personally did not like them, or that I found their posts boring or twit-like. As far as I know I never condemned anyone globally- but only expressed my PERSONAL preferences- I try never to do more than that. I am not for censorship - I am for personal and group autonomy. Now that is not to say I like everything that everyone does here- but I express my preferences, not some ethic that I think everyone should follow- for example I find group gang banging and pat on the back group mudslinging much worse than one individual pitching a fit (personally I find it so- I wouldn't make it the law that you also find it so). I like to pitch fits myself on occasion- it would be hypocritical of me to condemn that on ANYONE else's part- I thought I made my position on that fairly clear when E was (imo) attacked unfairly. And I used to like 95% of the people here. You are right things do change- but not always for the better- at least as far as personal tastes are concerned. So if I leave it will be merely because the atmosphere is no longer savory to me. I don't have that much free time- I might as well spend it in a congenial atmosphere. I tried very hard to point out these were personal preferences- they were not meant as global pronouncements. I am sure many people here have different standards of behavior for the folks they like and the folks they don't- I don't (myself) have different standards- I merely have folks I like (and who I would try not to slash the jugular of in an argument) and folks I do not like (and whose jugulars are fair game). As far as their behavior it is up to them to set their own standards- I HAVE kids to watch, and I don't need any more.
