Charles,

Back in 1973, IBM was trading over $440 per share.

1/23/73 Close $22.21 split adjusted to today.
5/29/73 5:4 split
6/1/79 4:1 split
5/28/97 2:1 split
5/27/99 2:1 split

$444.20 per share....

I remember, it took what seemed forever to buy a share in the employee stock plan.

Ben A.

Sorry for the delay in reply...have been away from home a bunch, working on Y2K projects & a fall fishing trip. Haven't checked the SI board in many weeks...
Somewhere around here, in all this mess, I have payroll confirmations of purchases of IBM stock through the IBM Employees Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) reaching back to 1964.
Now, I will be the first to tell you that my memory isn't what it used to be (nor anything else, for that matter), but I can remember getting stock in the $300's quite well, way back when. And, for some reason, the $360 figure is fixed quite prominently in memory. It may well be faulty...and probably is. I am seldom correct, just ask my wife.
After all, I AM a certified "Olde Pharte", having received a certificate in recognition of that from my daughter on the occasion of my birthday in September...
Best regards. Good luck to us all in the market!
Ray
