Actually, Joan was fighting for the evil Dauphin against the legitimate crown of France (also Henry VI Part I of England -- son of Henry V who spoke so well in chronologically earlier plays). Joan was really a terrible witch. She confessed to being pregnant and having of committed adultery with a couple of men. She denied her father, claimed to be descended from royalty.
