Yes the woman who was my partner last time did not show up. I wondered (briefly) if it was because of me. I warned my new partner that I wasn't very good- and then I proceeded to play the best game I have ever played. So I looked both excellent AND full of humility. It was lovely. We really did play a super game- and then we sat and ate yummy treats and clapped politely for the others still playing. I DID wear a slightly different dress with less lace on it- so my mallet never got caught in my dress. And I have learned that is is important to swing the mallet back INTO the skirt- to push it back from the ball so that one's stroke does not become fouled. But I really don't understand why all my shots were so beautiful. I played an absolutely awful game on Friday practice. Of course I had not been drinking Friday- and I was not yet medicated for the sinus infection- so my face was splitting with pain- but that doesn't explain all my other bad games- unless i've had a sinus infection since I started playing croquet.
